DAY 30 - LAST DAY OF CHALLENGE - "Winter Glow"

 "Winter Glow"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache

Holy Cow...I did it! Day 30/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

This challenge was cray fun for me. I had a blast even though painting daily was hard. I realized that not every painting has to be perfect. It was about the process of painting and letting go of the perfectionist in me! One of my biggest problems this month was coming up with my subject matter, although I did manage to step out of my box here and there! Some of my favorite paintings consisted of the close up view points. They always seemed to be food based for some reason. Maybe it's the post holiday diet mindset - if I eat only a portion..it's not so bad for me! So therefore my thinking is... if I only paint a portion - it can't be that bad....hmm.

Happy to say that during this process I manged to paint my all time favorite painting, so that is super exciting! Drum role...it was the Blue Lobster, and it also happens to be one of my largest paintings to date. Also, my Lobster prints are now available on eBay. My plan is to continue on this route now that the challenge is over. I'm looking forward to painting  more detailed larger painting instead of sticking to my normal 5x7.  You know what this means....you may not see a post for a while.

Another note....not only have I painted everyday - I managed to Blog everyday the past 30 days too! I think that was a bigger challenge for me than the painting itself. Said this before but I am NOT a writer. Posting a picture is great...but finding my words, well, not so much. My husband is a Senior online Marketing Manager and he is always telling me I need to write more in order for the search engines to find me. So I have added this to my goals for this year. Note to self...try not to ramble too much.

The traffic as been incredible this month - I have over 8,000 visits to my blog now. Many of the new followers are fellow (very talented) artists! It was so nice to chat with so many you this month and hope to continue. Some mind blowing work from these 250 artist that took the challenge along with me!

Big thanks to Leslie Saeta for putting this all together, and if you have the chance please check out the other artists fabulous work!

So happy to have you follow me here!

Daily Painting #29 "Lupine Fields"

 "Lupine Fields"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache

$60.00

Day 29/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

Enjoyed painting today - the color choices are bright in lieu of it being an almost monochromatic color scheme outside. I opted for bright and bold inside! It is almost 50 degrees here in Maine today...so what the heck huh! Opera Rose makes me smile :)

Happy Painting

Daily Painting # 28 Moonlight Path - 5x7 Watercolor/Gouache

 "Moonlight Path"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache

Day 28/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

I had a hard time thinking about what to paint today, so instead of spending anymore time on "thinking it over", I opted to paint THE PATH again only a smaller version of it and without the moon in the view.  Only 2 more days left in the challenge! Hope tomorrow my creative side decides to kick back in! :)

"Looking Up" 5x7 Watercolor/Gouache

  "Looking Up"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache

Day 27/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

A different perspective on yesterday's painting "THE PATH".  This one is looking straight up through the trees looking at the  moon and the stars in the night sky. I can picture myself laying on the ground just staring up into the night...dreaming. Can't do that right now though...it's freezing out there!

Only 3 more days in the challenge...how is everyone doing? I'm struggling now...ready to do a more detailed painting.

Happy Monday everyone - hope you all have a great week!

  "The Path"

SOLD

8x10 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 26/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

Looking up through the trees at night make you realize that the world is such a big place, it is so breathe taking and magical! My favorite place to star gaze is at our family camp in Northern Maine. We are miles away from the lights of the city and the stars just are AMAZING! So I hope you take the time out of your busy schedules and look up at the sky tonight and know that there are amazing things out there! Have a great night my friends!

Day 25 "Reflections of Maine"

"Reflections Of Maine"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 25/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

After yesterday's daily painting I've decided to paint my go to subject......a nice calm Maine reflection.  I have to make dinner so you can see I was in a hurry to take the picture - the paint is still wet on the sailboat! On another note...the weekend paintings seem to be the hardest for me to accomplish. When my family is home with me, my focus is on usually on them. My husband is making fun of me at the moment...."NICE" he said..."Blame us!" LOL.

Daily Painting 24 "LOBSTERMAN'S BEST FRIEND"

"Lobsterman's Best Friend"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 24/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

A friend of mine posted this adorable picture of her yellow lab, Finn on facebook the other day and I just had to paint him! I should have asked permission first,  but I just couldn't help myself! I sent her a note this morning asking if I could post it, and lucky for me she said yes! (Phew)

I thought it was such a classic Maine sight....a lobsterman with his best friend....heading out to set traps for the day. According to Jodi, Finn was patiently waiting to go!

Slice of Blueberry Heaven - Day 23 Daily Painting

  "Slice of Blueberry Heaven"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 23/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

Today was a crazy day! I had a workshop today and got home in the afternoon in 11 degree weather only to find I was locked out of my house. Some how my lock on my door seized up and the key wouldn't go in! So after 15 minutes of trying and freezing my buttocks off.....I ran down to the neighbors. Finally got in long story short.....but didn't get a chance to start my daily painting until this evening and I had no idea what I was going to do. Well, food always seems to work for me - I found a neat picture of a slice of blueberry pie and cropped it!  Just finished it and now I'm off to watch American Idol! Have a great evening everyone, and if your are in Maine or New England...stay warm!

  "Waiting For You"

8x10 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 22/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

Waiting For You - Sailing was a special time in my life, I can remember the little dinghy just waiting for us to board it. We would row it out to the sailboat and set sail leaving our little dinghy behind Waiting for us, until we returned.

"Acadia, Maine"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 21/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

Maine's Acadia rocky coast, such a classic New England scene.
My painting time is getting later and later it would seem. Just finished this one up and it's now 7pm. Coastal Maine is my comfort zone and since time was limited I went for it!

Day 20 Daily Painting Challenge "Imagination Garden"

"Imagination Garden"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 20/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

This is my Imagination Garden....This abstract created itself with a little help from my hand, fingers and arms. Impressionistic painting is very relaxing for me. I don't plan anything out, nor do I analyze what something is  "suppose" to be. The colors and shape take on three own meaning.

Day 19 Daily Painting Challenge "COVERED BARRENS"

"Covered Barrens

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 19/30 of our Painting Challenge.
We have many birch trees over by our high school along with beautiful blueberry fields. The color of the barrens are now covered with snow but you can still see a little contrast underneath.

I managed to watch the NFL Playoffs all day and squeeze in a movie "Mama", which was pretty good for a horror film! Needless to say, I didn't get a chance to attempt my Daily Painting Challenge until 10pm last night. Now for me this was a real problem. I am not a night owl by any means. As a matter of fact I think my brain shuts off at 9pm. I was so tired I didn't have a chance to post this last night, so I'm posting today.

"Little Cupcake"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache

Day 18/30 of our Painting Challenge.

Daily Painting.  #18 "Little Cupcake" Talk about a tasty food - cupcakes are one of my favorites! Mini little cakes are a piece of heaven aren't they? I mean, who doesn't like a cupcake? For my dear friends Birthday this year I made these delicious Banana Split Cupcakes, with butter cream frosting and topped with lots of goodies.  Lucky for me I snapped a picture for her to post on facebook before we ate them all. Seems like a theme here....I am always eating my painting objects, hmmm.

What a cute little painting this would make for Valentines Day!

VITAMIN "C" FIX - Daily Painting #17

"VITAMIN "C" FIX"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache

Day 17/30 of our Painting Challenge.

After spending so much time on the Blue Lobster this week I'm having a hard time squeezing in my daily painting. I didn't have to go far this morning for my inspiration though...it was sitting on my kitchen table. I thought this would be a great warm up for the day along with my Daily vitamin C fix!

I have painted a lot of fruit, but found this orange to be some what of a challenge for me.  To get the texture or denting in the peel was a hard feat to achieve and I am not quite sure that I completely grasped it. I have been staring at it for a while now and going to let it goes as is. I am happy with the shading and depth. Looks good enough to eat, and by the way....I did, again (Apple memories)!

Yesterday's Lobster Progress - 18x14"

The claws are done, now on to the background! I have started to remove the liquid frisket (orange glowey stuff), but I think I'll wait to remove the rest of it for when the background is in. He may be ugly, but I think he's my new favorite painting!

"REID STATE PARK"

Georgetown, Maine

8x10 Watercolor/Gouache

Day 14/30 of our Painting Challenge

Reid State Park in Georgetown, Maine. Looks like we still have a little snow left on the ground, even with this lovely 59 degree weather. Of course if you aren't from the cold states you may think this isn't so great, but here in Maine, this is VERY warm.

Blue Lobster - Looks like an Alien!

Moving along slowing on this painting, the details and color variations are just crazy fun!
Okay, so everyone is asking...what is this. I know it's looking rather like an alien at this point, but when the body starts to take shape along with the claw, it'll all come together. I am really excited about this one and I LOVE the colors.  Hope you are enjoying the process along with me. Thanks for taking time today to view my blog!

Progress on The Blue Lobster

Here is my progress today on the big guy~

Sketched Lobster - Starting Today!

Starting a new larger painting today - will try to work it in after my daily paintings in the morning. Though, you know what it's like if you are really excited about a piece and you can't seem to stop working on it. I'm going to try to contain myself this evening and not be up until 1am painting!

I'll post the progress tomorrow - wish me luck. Hate dark circles under my eyes!

Day 13/30 Painting Challenge "Reflections"

"REFLECTIONS"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache

Day 13/30 of our Painting Challenge

Tried something a little different for me today - I wanted to play with  color and reflections in the water but wanted to do a more abstract take.  It was really fun to play with the colors,  and I didn't want to spend too much time on the details and perfection of the painting. It was a fun experiment for me and I normally wouldn't post my experiments, but with the challenge (thanks Leslie) I'm just going for it and letting my guard down and stepping out of the box this month!

Day 10/30 of our Painting Challenge - posting it a little early!

One of the best things about living here in Maine is the fact there is endless beauty surrounding us, no matter what the season. I love being able to take a quick trip just down the road to the rocky coast to see this kind of view.

"60's LOVE"

What is this??? Okay, So I was born in 1969 - so it's barely the 60's, but it still counts right?!  You just never know where I'm going to go with the paints each day. Yup, color just threw up on the canvas today. I really love it - it's so much fun and I find the colors to be so happy, doesn't it make you happy? It may be hard to follow me cause I'm all over the board, but you know what...I'm having fun!

PEACE and LOVE! :)

"RED SKY AT NIGHT" Sunset Watercolor

"RED SKY AT NIGHT"

Day 8 of the 30 Day Painting Challenge.

Captured a beautiful picture of a red sunset the other night while driving home on Pleasant Hill Road, in Brunswick Maine. For some reason nature just blesses this area with the most incredible sky colors! Whether it is the morning or evening, sunny or wet, summer or winter....it is just beautiful here. That is one of the reasons Larry and I (when we ran) would chose this path! It was such an anticipation for us.....what would nature show us just around the corner. We would wait for the break in the trees and then WOW the view!

Day 4 of the 30 day painting challenge!

Love trying new looks/ techniques and such so figured I would just continue to play with the colors! Looks a little like I've painted with acrylic or oil! This one is quite a heavy paint for watercolors and not my normal style but it was a blast just having fun with it. Really digging this whole 30 day challenge thing, thanks again to Leslie for changing my thinking! Letting go and having fun - who knew.Of course each day before I start, I'm nervous about what I'm going to have to post! We all know that not all our paintings turn out perfect! Well, I should speak for myself.....at least mine don't....that is  until I've played and tweaked them for sometimes like (FOREVER)!
