Simplicity - Materials For 30 Paintings in 30 Days

My Art space has not officially been set up since moving into our TINY HOME! Cough cough.. trying not to panic here for the next 30 days of STRAIGHT painting!

My thought? Well, I've decided to keep things um, "SIMPLE"! I'm going off our new way of thinking since....DUM DUM DUM...."THE DOWNSIZE" (Said slowly and in a deep voice).

If I move over the computer screen, it should give me enough room to work some magic! But.... if not, then the handy dandy kitchen table is right next to me...I'll just roll on over.

Materials List: I've added the links to Amazon for you.

Winsor Newton Cotman Watercolor Kit (with 12 basic colors and a little sable brush)
3/4 Inch Oval Mop Series 52 Expression Artist Paint Brush By Robert Simmons

#5 M Grumbacher N.Y. Red sable  (This is an antique brush that I love!)
Arches Watercolor Block 140 LB Cold Press 20 sheets 7x10 Inch (that I cut in two.)

Winsor Newton Designers' Gouache - Primary Set of 6, 14 ml
Although I'm only using the black and white.

Cooks Lobster House Maine Art Exhibit

 "SLICE OF BLUEBERRY HEAVEN"

Looking forward to putting up my Art Exhibit  at Cooks Lobster House , on Bailey Island Maine this weekend for the month of September! I was really excited to read that Cooks Lobster House was in OPRAH's O Magazine , for 2013's Summer Fun Things To Do in July, how cool is that!
Thought the Blueberry Pie Slice would be a good one for there! Maine's blueberry pie...hmmm, wonder if they are serving it at Cooks this weekend? I may have to eat the real thing if they do...even if I am trying to eat healthy (That's no fun).

Stop on in if you have the chance - they have some great food and have you all see that GIANT LOBSTER there? It's a Hoot!
Don't forget to find me on Facebook or sign up for my blog post via email!

30 Day Painting Challenge Begins September 1st!

This is a collage of 25 originals I did during my last challenge of "30 paintings in 30 days" back in March? It think it was March. Holy cow...had to go back on my blog and take a look and it was actually back in January! Eeeeee, I really haven't been painting a lot since the challenge.  A number of these paintings have since been sold, but there are a some still available to purchase on Daily Paint Works.

I'm not sure if I'll have a theme or not, I tried that the last time but I have to paint what I'm feeling at the time. Thought about doing a,b,c.....or by color....but naw,  just stick to my open concept...less pressure? What??? Pressure?? We are only painting 30 paintings! HA...I didn't miss one last year, but I'm still getting my move under my belt and don't have my painting area set up completely.

Wish me luck! I'm super excited to get a kick start again! Thanks Leslie Saeta for the push!

Brunswick's Arts Are Elementary 10x10

Here are the two pieces that I have chosen for this years "Arts Are Elementary"!

"CAREFREE"

This little bud was picked and sat carefree on the window sill....and was heavenly to smell.

The flower is a Rosa Rugosa, sometimes called the Beach Flower. You see many of them along the beach paths at Popham Beach, Maine.

They smell terrific and they were originally brought in to Maine to help preserve the beach erosion. They are a "carefree" plant with a wonderful fragrance.

"CARRIED AWAY"

Wave's can be very symbolic of your emotions, and this particular wave was inspired during a trip to Reids State Park. I was very pregnant at the time and climbing over the rocks was a challenge, but I made it to the top rock!

Sitting watching the waves crash along the shore with the warm sun shining on my belly, was such a peaceful yet exciting time, knowing I was going to become a mother for the first time very soon.

Both pieces will be available for purchase, at this year's Arts Are Elementary sale, Friday September 27, 2013.

Arts Are Elementary: "A unique chance to collect works by some of Maine's finest artists...and a great way to support the arts in Brunswick's Elementary Schools. All pieces are 10"x10", framed and ready to hang for $200. $100 goes to the artist, $100 goes to Arts Are Elementary".

Grasshopper ~ Started a New Painting 22x15"

Started a new insect painting on Monday that I'm really excited about. Sometimes I wonder why I chose my objects...they seem to jump out at me and usually it's the bright colors and lines, not necessarily the object itself.

Have you ever really looked at a Grasshopper closely? Some folks were like EWE- bugs, but I find the details in his body incredible!  I knew this one would be a challenge with all the texture and color variations, but who doesn't love a challenge!

We will be moving into our new tiny home this weekend, I'm talking beds and everything! So I hope to get things back in order and by the end of the month I'll be painting daily again. (fingers crossed).

Maine...the way life should be!
Feel free to check on one of my completed paintings of Boothbay Harbor - Sailing.
