In Progress Oil on canvas - Maquoit Bay, Brunswick

Maquoit Bay Brunswick, Maine

I was busy this weekend working on another Maine island painting for my exhibit coming up June 27th - July 10th at The Barn in Phippsburg, Maine.

Still have a few more details to work out, but it's coming along! This is another larger painting for me - 36x24" on Gallery wrapped canvas. I love being a Maine Artist....there are just so many little places in New England to paint.

Work in Progress - A Foggy Day in Maine

Here's what I worked on today...still in progress, more rocks and reflections to paint in the front. Another larger Gallery wrapped canvas 36'x24"

Started with a light gray purple background - you can just make out the island in the back...it's covered in fog.

Adding the island in here with some reflections in the water - still a bunch of work to do. It's a rainy day out there today, so I should be able to get more accomplished.  I'll post the final photo later!

"Summer Moonlight" Ominous Moon Oil Painting

Sometimes the moon can look a bit ominous and therefore it makes people think "scary" so with my painting I wanted to make it a warmer happy feeling so I added some lighter and rich tones of purples and yellows.

"Summer Moonlight" 22x28 Oil Painting

I loved the background so much I was tempted to stop here!

 Photo reference

The other night I was out with my dog Primm for her last outing just before bedtime and when I stepped outside the door I found this! The moon was so bright and inspiring,  I had to run back inside and grab my camera! Managed to snap this shot just in time before the clouds covered it fully!

Rangeley Maine Lupine Fields Acrylic Painting

Second painting of the lupine fields in Rangely Maine. Guess I just can't get enough of the these gorgeous flowers.

I had the sweetest email from a gentleman that had seen a watercolor of lupines I painted a while back. He wanted to share a story with me about how he and his now wife were backpacking and he picked her a bouquet of Lupines and proposed to her with them in hand.  Awe.... He wanted to get her a Lupine painting to remind her of their special day for their 10th Anniversary.

Rangeley Maine Lupines - 8x8 Acrylic on Canvas

Rangeley Maine Lupines
8x8 Acylic on Gallery stretched canvas

 *Canvas edge is painted black
One of the most spectacular views of Lupine Blooms happens each June and in my opinion one of the best place's to view this event is in Rangeley Maine. I promise you.... the site is amazing!
These flowers stand up to 3 feet tall and the site is incredible when you come across a large field of them.

Large Oil Painting of Five Island, Georgetown, Maine

Five Islands, Georgetown Maine Oil Painting
A Beautiful Day in Maine

Here's what I've been up to - I bought some new Winsor Newton Water Mixable Oils last week and painted an oil painting, size 24x36" on a Gallery Stretched canvas!

I was so excited to start because my mother came to paint with me! I've missed her (and you too dad)... they just got back from being snow birds in Florida. I picked up double everything for her for Mother's Day so we could create together.

What a big difference painting with oils....it's been such a long time since I've worked with them! The Water clean up make's them so much easier....and hardly any smell.
