Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - Day Thirteen "Height of Land, Maine"

"Height of Land"
Rangeley Lakes Region, Maine
5x7" Watercolor in 8x10" Mat
$125

I broke out my watercolors today because I realized that I have no more room for the oils to dry!
The good thing is that I have one larger 24x36' oil painting that IS finally dry is heading out to be
shipped in a few days, and I have 3 other larger paintings that are going on exhibit at the Atlantic Motorcar Center in Wisscasset on Thursday. That means more room will be coming available soon.

SOLD - Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - Day Twelve

"All About The Journey"
6x6 Oil on Deep Edge Canvas
SOLD

 I read a great quote  today -
"The only impossible journey, is the one you never begin." ~Anthony Robbins
Fit's me to a Tee - my journey is always taking me in different directions....in life and in art.

One of my favorite things about doing the 30in30 challenge is to use this time to experiment. The last one was with inks and this time more with oils. When I started painting, if you can believe it I only did abstract painting....I think that's why I like the inks and the more chunky style with the oils.

I love living here in Maine and the beach is one of my favorite spots to sit and reflect. Now when I was younger and thinner I would spend my time bathing in the sun getting my golden tan on...now I try to hit it later in the day or early in the morning when there is just me and the waves.

I've made a commitment to do more plein air painting this year, and plan to do a few of them right here in the sand. Maybe I'll find anther Sand dollar.

Where do you see your journey taking you this year?

Day 14 "FOXY"

Day 14
"Foxy"
ACEO - Not For Sale
This one was painted for one of my dearest friends. Her maiden name was Fox.
This cute little fox hung out around our old house all the time. We could hear it doing it's strange territorial call at 2am in the morning. I would then jump up really quick and make sure our cat Taz was in the house!

"Sugared Grapes" 30 in 30 Day 15

 "Sugared Grapes"
 $100

A beautiful abstract rendition of grapes.

Today is the half way point in our 30 day challenge and I feel like I cheated a little bit painting grapes again, but it got stuck in my head and had to try it with some purple.

I think it turned out better than the first one! I loved playing with the colors and flow of the background. Forcing myself to stretch out of my box with more color and a looser feel. I used a bit of white gouache on this painting too.

"Fall Blanket" - 30 in 30 Day 7 - By Kellie Chasse

"FALL BLANKET"

Click HERE to Bid On Auction

The leaves will soon be seeking their journey to the ground covering it like a warm blanket, and I can't wait for it!

Our family looks forward to the fall every year and it's one of the reasons we love Maine so much.

The leaves here turn the most beautiful shades of orange, red, and yellow. It's a big reason we have so many visitors to our state in the fall.

Welcome Leaf Peepers!

With each new season, a new feeling can over-come you. The fall is so crisp and cool and the smells of the earth rise up to greet you. There is nothing like a hot cup of coffee with the steam rising up into your face on a cool fall morning, you will usually see me wrapped up in my L.L. Bean blanket sipping away.

"Watching The Garden Grow" - 30 in 30 Day 6 -By Kellie Chasse

"Watching The Garden Grow"

Day 6 of 30 paintings in 30 days ...I had forgotten how hard it was! Okay, I'm going to admit this out loud,  I struggled to complete a painting today!

And I should clarify....not because I was drinking....(To Much)...but just enough! :)

My husband is on vacation this week and we have been having such a great time!  Yesterday we ate lunch at Mac's Grill and I had the best Shipyard Pumpkin Beer eh-vah (Maine word)! It had a delicious sugar and cinnamon rim, so you can take one guess as to what I picked up at the store when we headed home! HINT ABOVE! :)

Today's painting was hard to decide on, but I finally figured it out.
 Step One

We have been watching our garden spider grow over the last few weeks here in our new home, Um..No - I mean he was outside the house, just wanted to clarify that!

 Step Two

The family thought he was so cool, with all his bright yellow and black coloring as well as the neatest, master skills, zipper web! I managed to grab a few pictures of him and I used it as my reference photo for today. He had been growing and growing bigger and bigger, but today when we went outside to drop in and say Hi... it was very sad....he and his so cool zipper web are No Longer.

Step Three

Be free little garden spider..... hope you caught a ride on the wind and are fascinating your new family!

"No Limitation" 30 in 30 Day 3 - By Kellie Chasse

“Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding. Find out what you already know and you will see the way to fly.”
Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

"NO LIMITATIONS"

Learning a few things about myself again during this 30 day challenge already. One thing I can be really good at is "limiting" myself...so I'm taking Johnathan Livingston Seagull's advice and  learning to have some fun with the challenge and trying to be looser with my work.  No LIMITATIONS!

I'm having so much fun because I have no preconceived ideas of what the background will be.  I'm playing...using salt and a number of colors.

Sorry, forgot to take pictures of my process - ugh! Maybe tomorrow huh?

If you are new to my blog - please, I would love to have you follow my work, or if you are on facebook stop in and "Like" my page or just say hello!

Would love to hear from you.

PEEK-A-BOO PUFFIN 30 in 30 Day 1 - By Kellie Chasse

Choose to start off Day 1 of the 30 Day challenge with a classic Maine bird - THE PUFFIN!

It was my parents anniversary this past weekend and they celebrated by taking a trip to Monhegan Island.  Monhegan is an artists frigging dream scape, right! Incredible coastal views!

Lucky for me, Mom has chosen to share her Monhegan pictures with me...so you may see a few Island scenes from this lady during the next few weeks!

So back to Peek A Boo -  Thought you may enjoy seeing a few of the steps along the way. I get a little distracted when I paint but managed to take a few pictures of my progress. It's funny, you know "we" painters can get into deep thought while we are working....and yep...forget to take pictures! Not as many as planned, but you get the idea. Hope to do this throughout the next 30 days with all the paintings.

I have decided that I am not a FREE FLOWING painter...nope, pretty stiff actually. Thinking about tomorrows painting; should try to loosen up a bit. Why is it so hard for me to do.

Interested in purchasing Peek A Boo you can take a peek at my Daily Paint Works Gallery

Hope you enjoy!

My thought? Well, I've decided to keep things um, "SIMPLE"! I'm going off our new way of thinking since....DUM DUM DUM...."THE DOWNSIZE" (Said slowly and in a deep voice).

30 Day Painting Challenge Begins September 1st!

This is a collage of 25 originals I did during my last challenge of "30 paintings in 30 days" back in March? It think it was March. Holy cow...had to go back on my blog and take a look and it was actually back in January! Eeeeee, I really haven't been painting a lot since the challenge.  A number of these paintings have since been sold, but there are a some still available to purchase on Daily Paint Works.

I'm not sure if I'll have a theme or not, I tried that the last time but I have to paint what I'm feeling at the time. Thought about doing a,b,c.....or by color....but naw,  just stick to my open concept...less pressure? What??? Pressure?? We are only painting 30 paintings! HA...I didn't miss one last year, but I'm still getting my move under my belt and don't have my painting area set up completely.

Wish me luck! I'm super excited to get a kick start again! Thanks Leslie Saeta for the push!

If you are interested in following our progress or heck if you want to join us here is the link to her blog: 30 day paintings in 30 days challenge hosted by Leslie Saeta

SOLD "Waiting" - Dragonfly Abstract Watercolor

"WAITING"
 5x7" Watercolor/Gouache

Day 2 of the 30 day challenge!

Still struggling from being sick, but I'm happy to post that I'm feeling much better today!

Today's painting is based on a picture that I took over the summer of this adorable, well manor-ed little dragonfly. I took about a million pictures of this little guy and I felt as though he was patiently waiting for me to get it right before he flew off.

Loosen Up with Watercolors: Painting a Wildflower Field and Country Barn

Hey friends, In this week’s tutorial, I dove into one of my favorite types of scenes to paint—loose wildflowers with a sweet little country...
