Bailey Island, Maine "The Cribstone Bridge"
24x36" Oil on Stretched Canvas Painting
Here's what on my easel today - it's in the process of drying. I was going for a more impressionistic take....I wanted the painting to have a looser feel or as my Mom would say "Mr. Clean" look. I tried not to get to detailed, but that is always a challenge for me. Even the houses are simple in the background. You can find some information about the bridge here.
"A sidewalk was added in 1951 and guard rails in 1961. On July 19, 1984 the Bailey Island Bridge was recognized as a Historic Civil Engineering Landmark and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The Bailey Island Bridge is reported to be the only granite cribstone bridge in the world."
