Check out this simple alcohol ink demo tutorial - Last week we did the watercolor version, so check it out to see the differences between the two mediums. It's super fun to try it in another medium.  Again less than 15 minute warm up, the perfect project for a daily journal.

Here is last weeks watercolor version. Both of these are a very quick exercise but let me know in the comments below which one you prefer. 

This is a super easy way to create a very whimsical grouping of flowers very quickly. I'm using the brand Pinata inks by jacquard here along with some Mineral paper. We start with a very simple flower shape and try it with a few colors. Add some green stems then let that dry. Once it's dry you can use a black sharpie pen to outline the shapes giving it  wonderful illustration quality. Try using a few different brushes to see how it changes the flowers. Try the inks very wet and then more dry to see the difference in details.

Alcohol Ink Art Birch Tree Painting on Tile Tutorial

This weeks Alcohol Ink demo is what I like to call my moody birch tree on a tile. 

This Alcohol Ink Art Birch Tree Painting on Tile Tutorial is super Fast and Easy, seriously a 5 minute Alcohol ink painting using jacquard pinata inks on tiles.

I will go over a quick wet in wet background then we'll add some dancing silver mixative to create a sparkling Moon and reflection on the water.

ALCOHOL INK ART WATER BRUSH PEN VALENTINE CARD TURTORIAL

Alcohol Ink Art Water Brush Pen Valentine Card Tutorial  - Create this super cute Valentine Card using Piñata Alcohol Inks and a water brush pen filled with Isopropyl alcohol.

In this demo I used Yupo paper, Water Brush (refillable), Pinata Inks in the colors Chili pepper Red, and Baha Blue, Gold, and Passion Purple. We also used some White and Gold gel pend for some little whimsical details. The painting were sealed with Winsor Newton Varnish (built in UV).

Once the Heart painting was complete and sealed (which is optional) I used Strathmore Watercolor cards to attach the yupo paper to using spray glue.

Alcohol Ink Vapors and Using a Mask

As artists we use lots of different products and chemicals that can be harmful. You are responsible for your own safety and protection, do your research and stay safe! I've attached an information link from the EPA on VOC's.

I wanted to share with you this vapor mask that I purchased recently for when I'm working with certain chemicals or vapors. This Vapor Mask is by Strong. It states that it protects against: Bezol, benzine, chorine, acetone, alcohols, anilines, carbon disulfide, cabon tetrachloride, chloroform, bromomethane, chloromethane, nitroparaffin, and organic vapor.
