Experimenting with Funkadelic Liquid Dichro Inks - Chills and Thrills!

These have some color shift and are interesting to work with, very pretty.

They come from a very small company run by Erbie, and she mixes all of these herself with a little help.

She released the colors last October, and I finally purchased some to try out. Heads up the website is a bit tricky, so make sure you look at where you are shipping to.

Hi Art Peeps!

I wanted to share a quick and fun project with you. It's super fun and easy by the way, think how cool this would be for each month of the year. I did this project with Trex Alcohol inks, but you can also try it with watercolors on watercolor paper!

Special thanks to Grafix paper  for sending me some different papers to try out with some alcohol inks. The Dura-bright in Black will be out in stores soon. Write out your word with some craft glue then add some heavy coarse salt on top.

No need to wait for it to dry, just start adding your alcohol inks over the salt and let dry.

You can use some canned air to blow the ink around for a lovely background

Snowcap or Blanco works great to make the colors really pop since they make them more opaque.

Put it in a frame once it's dry and you have a lovely little sign for your home.

Earth Day was my Birthday!

New 15-Minute Watercolor Watermelon Slice Class

Hey Art Lovelies!
I hope you are having a great week! Yesterday was my Birthday so I relaxed, got pampered, and did absolutely "NOTHING" but eat all day. My son has been on a baking kick and made me the most delicious birthday carrot cake and if I could share it with you I would (fewer calories that way)!  What else is going on? Well, I am playing more with my procreate app and getting a few small wins. 
Today I added a quick sketch of the watermelon slice and added it as a FREE Printable Sketch DOWNLOAD for you to copy/trace and paint.

New Jewelry UV Resin projects

Hello, Art Peeps!

(Speaking of Peeps...do you find them to be your favorite snack in April along with those little Cadbury eggs? I know I do, yum! )

If you have been following my Instagram page you may have seen some of my new UV resin projects that I've been working on. I have to tell you I'm very excited about how fast I can make these mini art pendants! I use all of my old scraps from past projects that just didn't pan out. 

Since the original Alcohol Ink Pendant course was one of my very first online courses, I've added some updated lectures including how to use UV resin in place of glue. It's a great way to eliminate those pesky bubbles or silver spots under your glass cabochons.

I've also found some awesome little steel bezels that you can engrave on, plus they do not tarnish like some of the other sterling silver/plated bezels for those of us that hate to clean them. 

I also added some quick tips on how I photograph my finished jewelry pieces for online sales.

Alcohol Ink doodle with my new Glass Pen

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well.
I've been out walking a lot these past few weeks. Getting some outdoor time and of course, painting a lot.

Today I wanted to share some creative time with you. I got in a new glass calligraphy dip pen and wanted to show you how I used it with alcohol inks.

It's made of glass and has this beautiful colorful center. The end of it has this spiral design that helps hold the inks. It comes with a glass container and holder when you are not using it. It also has 4 colors named after animals and has some gold power or iridescent color mixed in.

It was fun and I'm excited to try it out with some masking fluid and maybe use it to add some details to my next watercolor painting.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Virginia Crowe during our Artist Chat this week. Virginia began painting a few years ago, and now it is a part of her daily practice. She is a licensed Art4Healing facilitator. Her focus is on wellbeing and building confidence for others that may have struggled from abuse or as a way to manage stress or pain.

She started with abstracts and fell in love with acrylic pours. She began teaching classes for large groups, throwing acrylic pour paint parties and loved it! Eventually she began teaching online courses.

Virgina has since branched out with alcohol inks. She started with her love of abstracts, but quickly learned that she loved painting more realistic too.

How to Paint a Loose and Flowy Alcohol Ink Floral Wreath on Yupo Paper

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL Oh those beautiful colors of Spring, how I am ready for you!  This class will guide you through the ins and outs of controlling alcohol inks on YUPO PAPER to create some loose and flowy florals to make your own beautiful alcohol ink wreath project. We will explore a few some simple Alcohol Ink floral designs. You’ll learn how to add depth using pigment and a little brush control to produce effortless strokes creating loose and flowy flowers and leaves along with some simple and desirable filler vines. Alcohol Inks are such a creative medium. They have a mind of their own which allows the artist to go with the flow. This is a course for  the Alcohol ink explores. Best for intermediate creatives, but even beginners will be able to complete this class. If you are an alcohol Ink lover, then you have probably seen some of these gorgeous flower blooms out there on social media. Instagram and facebook are full of them.  Today I was lucky enough to chat with one of the Founders of these alcohol ink flower designs, Kimberly Deene Langlois. 

Kimberly shares how she got started with alcohol inks and explains a little how she gets those gorgeous detailed centers in her flowers (her signature). 

She uses mostly canned air to create these blooms on canvas and she's create some pretty large scaled pieces using alcohol inks.  Stop over and say hello and make sure to let her know you popped over to from my channel.
