Right Brain - Use your imagination in this fun watercolor style!
$60.00 + Shipping
Today's Daily Painting #44 (Year To Date 2013) was fun and unexpected. I was excited to video tape the progress and hope to put the video up once I get the editing done on it.
My first step was to use clear plastic wrap to create a fun and interesting design and then go from there.
It's never been a challenge for my brain to see something in the color patterns. You have to use your imagination or your right brain for this exercise. Look for a pattern in the colors. It may be difficult at first, but with practice you can get the hang of it.
I remember as a kid sitting down just starring at the wood panels on a wall.....if you looked at the knots in the pine you could see all kinds of interesting little things....eyes...creatures, fairy's....my imagination would go wild.
So try it out and use your favorite colors and see what you get. If you can't see anything...show a little one...they are really good at spotting things! Then start to paint them in.

Snowing still and I'm painting "Purity" - A White Iris
"PURITY"
White Iris
8x10 Watercolor/Gouache
These beautiful flowers must be blooming somewhere right now...but it's not in Maine that's for sure! It's snowing....still, surprise surprise...NEMO hasn't really began to rev up yet and it looks like most of the heavier snow will hit sometime tonight and into tomorrow morning - like 3" an hour!
I've been watching the snow this afternoon out my window and been doing a little light painting. Got a late start today so decided to keep it simple.
Thanks for stopping by ~ Stay safe and warm!

Day 20 Daily Painting Challenge "Imagination Garden"
"Imagination Garden"
5x7 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink
Day 20/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.
This is my Imagination Garden....This abstract created itself with a little help from my hand, fingers and arms. Impressionistic painting is very relaxing for me. I don't plan anything out, nor do I analyze what something is "suppose" to be. The colors and shape take on three own meaning.

Client Request - Milkweed Blossom - SOLD
Milkweed Blossom
SOLD
Simple Elegance, that's what I think of every time I look at this piece. The black background just pops the milkweed blossom off the paper. The client decided on a white mat and frame and I think it's a beautiful choice on this floral watercolor. Below is a picture of it framed.
I hung it up on my wall to take a picture of it, but as you may be able to tell the glass was left out so that I wouldn't get a major glare.
I used
Winsor Newton Cotman Sketchers Pocket Box Set
which is on sale currently for only $9.00 on amazon, and Winsor Newton Gouache 37ml Ivory Black
to get a nice deep background color.
Winsor Newton Cotman Sketchers Pocket Box Set
to get a nice deep background color.
They currently have a nice
Winsor Newton Designers' Gouache - Primary Set of 6, 14 ml
of primary colors of gouache too. Makes a great gift set for the holidays!
