I had the pleasure of speaking with Virginia Crowe during our Artist Chat this week. Virginia began painting a few years ago, and now it is a part of her daily practice. She is a licensed Art4Healing facilitator. Her focus is on wellbeing and building confidence for others that may have struggled from abuse or as a way to manage stress or pain.
Acrylic Pours
She started with abstracts and fell in love with acrylic pours. She began teaching classes for large groups, throwing acrylic pour paint parties and loved it! Eventually she began teaching online courses.
Flowers Course Virgina has since branched out with alcohol inks. She started with her love of abstracts, but quickly learned that she loved painting more realistic too.
You can check out her new online Alcohol Ink Courses where she shares how she uses a simple Q-Tip (Dots) and markers to create very life like animals in her Big Cats course! She also shares "How to generate income throwing successful group pouring events".

Kimberly shares how she got started with alcohol inks and explains a little how she gets those gorgeous detailed centers in her flowers (her signature).
She uses mostly canned air to create these blooms on canvas and she's create some pretty large scaled pieces using alcohol inks. Stop over and say hello and make sure to let her know you popped over to from my channel. If you are interested in seeing more details and how she creates these amazing flowers, she shares her techniques in her full online course Alcohol Ink Blooms.
I know that realistic paintings can be intimidating for many watercolorists.
So, I've decided to jump in with the details for you in this new Fall course.
We will bring the whole process together with layers and layers, taking your basic paintings (where many of us tending to stop) to the next level creating a more realistic watercolor.
This class starts out for beginners but in the end we will complete a very realistic Maple leaf.
I walk you through my steps so even if you are a beginner, I know you can do this one.
So we are going into details in this course!
WHAT YOU WILL DISCOVER IN THIS COURSE:
Create a simple Color chart with fall colors.
Learn to expand on those colors by adding a Glaze to create more shades and depth.
Paint a simple wet in wet leaf by dropping in colors.
Dive a little deeper with glazes and create some more realistic details.

Kell Artist & Instructor 15+ Years ✅ A Simple Living, Full Time Artist, and Instructor from Maine "Don't take life to seriously and always stay Creative!"
as a play...what would that be? "The Wizard Of OZ" of course.
Our week was all playtime and sunsets!
Swimming, kayaking, lunch out everyday, and even had cheesecake for breakfast!
The biggest part of the week was spent painting and creating and here's what we did.
Day 1 - Brought out the alcohol inks and she painted a gorgeous hummingbird in Masterpieces Hard Core Art panels. Day 2 - Painted on Silk Scarves. Now neither one of us had done this before, so it was experiment time for us both. Fun trying different options like Jacquard Dynaflow paints, Alcohol Inks, and even Brusho. Super fun results. I am planning to experiment more and do a class in the future. Day 3- We got my Resin out and I made some Maine Lobster Jewelry from the shells. Day 4 She painted this lovely bouquet that my wonderful neighbor gave us along with some fresh garden cucumbers and tomatoes! ( I know right, lucky!!) Day 5 - I filmed her painting one of her photographs from Acadia Maine over at the Bluff House Inn. (We get a really good deal since my Brother and his wife are the Inns owners!)
Now that my vacation is over I'm back to working on my Online courses and just finished up August in time!
Ok, so how many of you are seeing all of these gorgeous alcohol inks with shimmer or sparkles? If you have been following me you know that I am a debt free simple living artist and although I don't mind spending money on things I really love, I do like to repurpose things that I already have to save.
Shimmer inks - you know you want to try them!
I'll show you how you can easily create your own shimmer colors in a number of mediums that you probably already have hanging around. We will practice, play and explore a few options and we will finish up this beautiful shell project at the end.
I've also added 2 more PFD's that you can print off to create some more shells.

I am super excited to share with you all that this weeks TUESDAY VIDEO is a wonderful collaboration with an incredible artist and friend Jane Monteith!
First we will be covering this really fun DIY Tray project using Alcohol Ink Techniques with Egg Shells along with some Art Resin. It's a really fun and easy project that creates such cheerful spring looking results.
First we attached the egg shells with a spray glue, then tinted them using Jacquard Alcohol Inks by Pinata. Once that is dry a clear coat of Art Resin was used. Above is the finished piece, but make sure to check out the full process on my Youtube Channel.
Then you get a second project (WHAT?? YESssss) Two for one, I know.
Jane will then show us how to create a beautiful Mosaic tray using Yupo paper and Art Resin. She will show you how to use Rubber Cement to create some wonderful textures on the Yupo paper!
Check out our Youtube Channels for more projects as well as links to products used in the video!
In this weeks Youtube Demo video I wanted to see if I could paint the same painting first using Watercolor then Alcohol Inks. This week I started with the Watercolor Demo and next Tuesday will be the Alcohol ink Version...so stayed tuned.
I'll have a link for you to grab the sketch print if you want to give it a go!

If you are already a subscriber - check your email, I sent out the PDF to you all yesterday. (Smiles)
First we will start out using just a light wash for the project and then we gradually add the darker values and details at the end. One of the biggest mistakes I see students make is to try to get the details in too soon. So take your time, block in your colors and paint along with me. You can watch the full tutorial on my youtube channel (link below).
If you do one yourself I would love to see it and I may share on my social page as a featured art piece. So make sure to tag me on instagram or facebook @KellieChasse_FineArt!
