Free Demo on Youtube - Acrylic Painting Busy Bee

Here's a painting I recently did for a fundraiser. Since I don't have an acrylic course set up online yet I was curious if there was some interest out there for some?

I would love to have you follow along and paint with me. I've added some text for you to follow along, and some music, but feel free to turn it off or down if you feel it distracts you. Some parts have been sped up as not to bore you with repetitive strokes, but I think you'll get the idea!

FREE Demo (Link Below - oh and Don't forget to click the SUBSCRIBE button)!

I'll cover all the materials in the video and I've added a Material List with links for you below. Remember feel free to choose your own color pallet, and if you have other acrylic paints, brushes, or smaller canvas those will work.

Creating the petals to the flowers is easier than you may think. You can see that my base is painted in with purples but when I add the white see how the brush strokes change down in the front going horizontal instead of vertical. That will give the appearance of your petals turning upwards.

Here is what you'll need to get started.

Busy Bee Acrylic Painting Materials:

  • Brushes - Large Flat 1" and Small Flat 1/4" plus a small round size 3 detail brush with a point.
  • Acrylic Paints - Colors Purple, White, Black, and Yellow.
  • Easel - optional (I worked with a flat canvas).
  • Mixing Tray or  paper plate for paints
  • 1 container for water to clean brushes
  • Paper Towels
  • Gloves
  • Apron

I would love for you to say Hello On Facebook or Instagram and post your Painting on Social Media using #kcfacourse  (So all students can see your work).

Enjoy and most of all HAVE FUN!

"Powerful" - Alcohol Ink on Yupo 9x12"

"Powerful"
Alcohol Ink on Mineral Paper - $125

Free Shipping USA

Still working with the new Alcohol Ink blending solution that I created. I love how it really softens the edges of the paintings. What do you see....clouds....waves....other?

The colors in this one are Twilight, Cool Peri, and Snowcap.

Here is a time lapse video of  "Femininity"

Both pieces of work where done on Mineral Paper, which is made from Rocks.
It's a light weight paper compared to Yupo, but it's more cost effect.  Some folks may be interested in the  Air Brush that I"m using - there is a separate Video HERE and here is the link where I purchased mine:  Masters Air Brush

New Acrylic Painting Scene Available - "Busy Bee"

Busy Bee

At the end of April we had an amazing turn out of 44 painters for the Kora Fundraiser and we have another function coming up next week for the Lodge in Minot Maine.

Here's the newest painting scene I've created for them. They'll choose their own color of flower they want to do. We'll be adding this one as a scene for our future group choices so if you are interested in holding a Company Team Building Event or Fundraiser and live in Midcoast Maine please send me a note!

This painting is done with Acrylics on a 16x20" canvas (Affiliate Link) with a 1" gallery wrap.
I"m working on a pineapple next and if you have some ideas you would like to see, please share them with me!

In the mean time - happy painting!

Abstract Oil on Canvas

"VISION"

Click Buy Now for information on Purchasing

I had so much fun today working on this abstract painting - just going with the flow. I find the creative abstracts the most fun to paint. Abstracts are something I've been working with long before I started painting with watercolors back in 2007.

My mother is a very detailed artist and I've learned to paint more realistic in my approach now, but I have to admit as much as I enjoy the landscapes, seascapes, pets, animals...abstract's will always tug at my soul.

This picture gives you a better idea of the size. I really need to pick up one of the large floor easels that will hold these larger canvases. Hey maybe if my hubby reads this it'll give him a great idea for my birthday in April!

My little 15 pound Havanese Primm managed to get herself into my picture with her little stuffed animal rabbit. She's so darn cute.

SOLD - Thirty Paintings in 30 Day - Day Four

"Whispering Moon"
SOLD

11x14" Alcohol Ink on Liquid board

Here is  a picture of the first layer of resin drying, a second coat will be placed on it today. I love the sheen that it gives. I worked with the metallic silver ink adding the pigment to the resin on top so that it gives the piece even more depth. The silver moon looks as though it's floating, giving it a 3D effect.

"Summer Moonlight" Ominous Moon Oil Painting

Sometimes the moon can look a bit ominous and therefore it makes people think "scary" so with my painting I wanted to make it a warmer happy feeling so I added some lighter and rich tones of purples and yellows.

"Summer Moonlight" 22x28 Oil Painting

I loved the background so much I was tempted to stop here!

 Photo reference

The other night I was out with my dog Primm for her last outing just before bedtime and when I stepped outside the door I found this! The moon was so bright and inspiring,  I had to run back inside and grab my camera! Managed to snap this shot just in time before the clouds covered it fully!

Underwater Life Ocean Creatures

Have you ever been to the tropics diving under water?

My son recently went on a trip to the Bahamas and came back to tell me all his wonderful stories of his underwater fun. He has an incredible imagination and from his words I created this piece.

What an excitement and thrill of seeing all those little living creatures hiding underneath the seaweed and coral of the ocean? Many of these tiny creatures can barely been seen by the naked eye...but are so very important.

Commission Painting in progress - S MORES and Coffee

Waiting for my paint to dry before I head back in to paint! Gosh, I must get very stressed or tense when I paint...Looked in the mirror and noticed that my face was all RED!

Guess it's time for a break... lunch time anyways! Thought I would share my progress on a commissioned painting I'm working on.

A client recently purchased my whoopie pie painting and asked for me to paint smores and coffee cups for her dear friends using similar colors and style...fingers crossed - that she likes it so far!

"Heavenly" Monarch Butterfly 30 in 30 Day 19

"Heavenly" Monarch Butterfly
4x6" Original Watercolor

$85
Mat/Frame not included
It's my son's birthday today - he is a big twelve years old! I'm not really sure where the time has gone, but it certainly moves fast. We are very blessed to have such a wonderful kid, he's smart, adorable, and has a kind heart.
The Monarch Butterfly is very symbolic to our family and I've been waiting to paint this one, and I think it's one of my favorites during the 30 day challenge so far.  Love the light and airy feel the blue gives, it makes me think of Heaven.

"Sand Dollars" Daily Painting #34 2013 -SOLD

"SAND DOLLARS"
SOLD

Here we are in the middle of February and I'm currently on Daily Painting # 34 for the year!

Must be all the snow lately but I've been thinking of the warm days of summer, and I'm ready for it. Really, just another reason to love Maine, the four seasons! When you are ready for a change....all you have to do is wait a couple months and it's all brand new.

Hard to say what my favorite season really is. In the spring it's the fresh smell of the earth and the excitement of new flowers and trees budding.

In the summer, it's the warm breeze off the coast, the sandy beaches, collecting sand dollars and sun kissed faces.

Fall, well how can you not love the gorgeous colors of the autumn leaves and the morning chill, pumpkins, and apple picking!

But here we are in the winter...snuggled up in our homes hibernating with home made soups and the warm fireplace watching the snow covering the earth like sparkling diamonds.

I guess I just can't pick one. What's your favorite?

Happy Painting,
~Kellie

"PURPLE FINCH"

This is my artist version of their color - Now, they are more of a red but I just loved playing with the colors. All he needs is a background color, so posting this out there to pick your brains.

Some folks said a light yellow, others a heather gray, and some a light blue wash....What do you think?
