Thirty Paintings In 30 Days - Day 1

$300  12x12" Oil on Cavas

Starting off the 30 day painting challenge with an oil painting - the size is 12x12" and I think I'll go smaller for the rest of the challenge, including doing some watercolor and Alcohol Ink paintings. Once again I have no plan....it gives me the freedom to just paint with my mood.

Here is the original photograph taken at Reid State Park before you get to the beach. It's on the Todd's Point Road. I did some plein air painting there with my mother and our dear friend on Friday and it was the most perfect day all year. A breezy 77 degrees. I'm not looking forward to the winter at all. According to the Farmer's Almanac we are looking at another very cold and snowy winter.

Day 29 - Floating Man Of War Jellyfish - Faith

"FLOATING"

Day 29 "Floating" Acceptance and Faith.

Maintaining balance in all areas of your life is so important...we have lots of emotions that hit us everyday. The jellyfish symbolizes being sensitive and understanding the value of floating along or going with your emotions rather than being too stiff  with what life sends your way and having faith to move along.

The jellyfish has only the current to rely on to carry it along and must have the movement of the ocean to survive. We all need movement and change, this one really symbolized my new work with inks.

Special $35 -https://www.etsy.com/listing/177393924/jellyfish-man-of-war-floating-faith

Thanks Larry for the idea Wink!

Mini Paintings HOW FUN!

My mother had a number of 2.5 x3.5" stretched canvas in her basement just hanging around so when she heard I was planning on doing some holiday craft fairs this season she asked if I wanted them! Um, YEAH! Thanks Mom!

Had a hard time not getting paint all over me though....bet it was funny to watch me paint them. Little buggers are hard to hold on to and paint at the same time. Really need to get myself one of those easels that lock the canvas in.

Still digging painting the sides!

"End Of Summer" 30 in 30 Day 13

I've been painting a number of great fall colors but as excited I am for the fall I realized that summer is coming to an end. It's sad, yet exciting at the same time.  Coastal Maine's summer has been either very hot and muggy or rainy this year, but really can't complain, since there were of course a number of Perfect with a capital P - days in between, especially here on the coast.

I kept thinking maybe it needs a boat in that ocean somewhere?
This painting started with darker shades of wet on wet but after a number of water downs....it developed.

Really like the way the sky and reflections turned out, but maybe the trees are a bit to dark for the light and airy sky. It's trial and error isn't it.

May try a similar style tomorrow, but with purples...you know how I LOVE purples!
Sorry,  didn't get pictures of the process because I was having to much fun playing with the squirt bottle, oh yeah I had water everywhere.

Really excited today...I'm meeting up with an artist friend of mine (first time in person) but we've been chatting like no tomorrow online! Going to do some plein air painting together.

Have a super day everyone!

"No Limitation" 30 in 30 Day 3 - By Kellie Chasse

“Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding. Find out what you already know and you will see the way to fly.”
Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

"NO LIMITATIONS"

Learning a few things about myself again during this 30 day challenge already. One thing I can be really good at is "limiting" myself...so I'm taking Johnathan Livingston Seagull's advice and  learning to have some fun with the challenge and trying to be looser with my work.  No LIMITATIONS!

I'm having so much fun because I have no preconceived ideas of what the background will be.  I'm playing...using salt and a number of colors.

Sorry, forgot to take pictures of my process - ugh! Maybe tomorrow huh?

If you are new to my blog - please, I would love to have you follow my work, or if you are on facebook stop in and "Like" my page or just say hello!

Would love to hear from you.

Growing up in Maine along the ocean I relaxed and took in the incredible views that the coast had to offer. Sailing was by far my favorite way to travel. We would sail into all kinds of magical coves.

Day 25 "Reflections of Maine"

"Reflections Of Maine"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 25/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

After yesterday's daily painting I've decided to paint my go to subject......a nice calm Maine reflection.  I have to make dinner so you can see I was in a hurry to take the picture - the paint is still wet on the sailboat! On another note...the weekend paintings seem to be the hardest for me to accomplish. When my family is home with me, my focus is on usually on them. My husband is making fun of me at the moment...."NICE" he said..."Blame us!" LOL.

"Waiting For You" - 8x10 Watercolor, Kellie Lynn Fine Art - Day 22

  "Waiting For You"

8x10 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 22/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

Waiting For You - Sailing was a special time in my life, I can remember the little dinghy just waiting for us to board it. We would row it out to the sailboat and set sail leaving our little dinghy behind Waiting for us, until we returned.

Special thanks to Brunswick Maine's Photographer, Benjamin Williamson for the Reference Photo.

"Sunrise Reflection" Maine Island Inlet Watercolor Painting

"SUNRISE REFLECTION"

  (16x20" Double Matted)
$349.99
Original Watercolor by Maine Artist, Kellie Chasse
Original Painting Size is 11x14
A very placid morning on the cove.
The reflection in the painting was first painted as a mirror image then I used the dry brush technique to pull the paint down. This created the illusion of a serene calm water reflection.  I am a big fan of the "V" sky - it really pulls the eye out to the small island in the back.
