"Here's Looking At You" Swallowtail Catapillar 30 In 30 Day 27

Have you ever seen such a thing?
What am I looking at  you may say?

Looks like it's staring right back at you doesn't it? That's not a eye though....it's actually the back end of a Swallowtail caterpillar!

 "Here's Looking At You"

8x10 Framed - $100

A photograph friend took a funny little picture this summer of a swallowtail caterpillar, not knowing what it was at the time. She was showing me her photos on Monday and this one jumped right out! It was one of the funniest little insect/bug/creatures I have ever seen!

It may be a strange choice of subject matter for a watercolor - but he just "cracked" me up. I mean really....that's an eye! Bet the birds think twice with this kind of back end!

Special thanks to Michele Wood for the photo reference.

VIDEO "Birds Eye" - Watercolor Demo Speed Painting

Hopefully you will enjoy this new video. I painted a cardinal last week and a few of you were wondering how you can bring the eye to life. It's really all about the reflections.

This video is a speed demo with music, but I am planning on putting together more instructional video's with voice so that I can walk you step by step through the process if you wanted to follow along.

More coming soon, so make sure to sign up for my newsletter!

ROOSTER - Bird with an attitude!

  Kellie Lynn ART

 $100 Framed 8x10

I decided to paint a Rooster today. Why?
My husband and I are sitting on the couch this morning with our coffee - thinking of the Turkey dinner soon to come. Yes the bird is in.....Somehow we got on the subject of raising chickens.
Larry (aka "Hubby") came across an article in Mother Earth News about how back in 1918 the government recommends that every family raise 2 chickens per person, and how that will keep a family with fresh eggs! We have a cat and I wasn't really sure if it would work for us, but what a fun thing to try. I hear they are very entertaining and, BONUS....they eat ticks and mosquitoes.
Here is a fun fact - Did you know there is such a thing as a Chicken Diaper! Yup....wow huh!
Our neighbors are planning on getting chickens this coming spring...maybe we'll see how it goes with them first (smile).
Best Regards,
