Day 29 of Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - "Apple" Tree Ricker Hill Orchard

Apple Tree
Day 29 of Thirty Paintings in 30 Days
Mini Art

"Ricker Hill Apple Tree"

You know fall is officially here, when your family is out on a bright sunny and crisp cool day at the Apple Orchard.

We headed over this weekend to Ricker Hill Orchard here in Auburn, Maine. Picked up some homemade and yes, STILL WARM - apple, pumpkin, and blueberry doughnuts along with a pumpkin whoopie from the bakery there. OMG  - YUM!

Day 30 "Protector"

Last day of the 30 Day Painting Challenge, and I've had so much fun! To finish it off I painted a rooster. It symbolizes protection, courage and also is associated with kindness as it cares for the chickens.
He's a colorful bird!

Today's Project 8x10 PIG

Masked and starting painting.....

First layers finished...

Second layers finished....

I'm not completely finished with the big guy but it would appear that I'm done for today.
We'll see if I jump to something new tomorrow.  Sometimes it's best to sit on a painting and let me tell you....that after this past 30 days of painting straight completions, I'm absolutely okay with waiting.

I have this beautiful horse just staring at me...waiting for her turn on the paper. I'm hoping to get my art order in tomorrow. If you can believe it, I'm out of Arches Watercolor paper!

"RED SKY AT NIGHT" Sunset Watercolor

"RED SKY AT NIGHT"

Day 8 of the 30 Day Painting Challenge.

Captured a beautiful picture of a red sunset the other night while driving home on Pleasant Hill Road, in Brunswick Maine. For some reason nature just blesses this area with the most incredible sky colors! Whether it is the morning or evening, sunny or wet, summer or winter....it is just beautiful here. That is one of the reasons Larry and I (when we ran) would chose this path! It was such an anticipation for us.....what would nature show us just around the corner. We would wait for the break in the trees and then WOW the view!

ROOSTER - Bird with an attitude!

  Kellie Lynn ART

 $100 Framed 8x10

I decided to paint a Rooster today. Why?
My husband and I are sitting on the couch this morning with our coffee - thinking of the Turkey dinner soon to come. Yes the bird is in.....Somehow we got on the subject of raising chickens.
Larry (aka "Hubby") came across an article in Mother Earth News about how back in 1918 the government recommends that every family raise 2 chickens per person, and how that will keep a family with fresh eggs! We have a cat and I wasn't really sure if it would work for us, but what a fun thing to try. I hear they are very entertaining and, BONUS....they eat ticks and mosquitoes.
Here is a fun fact - Did you know there is such a thing as a Chicken Diaper! Yup....wow huh!
Our neighbors are planning on getting chickens this coming spring...maybe we'll see how it goes with them first (smile).
Best Regards,

Larry's Morning Run - Sunrise at the Farm

My husband came home the other morning after his 5am run and described this beautiful sunrise over the farm off Pleasant Hill Road in Brunswick Maine. ( I have personally seen Joanie Benoit the first womans Olympic marathon winner (1984) run on this stretch of road.) Hopefully this painting will make a wonderful Valentines Day present for him.

Loosen Up with Watercolors: Painting a Wildflower Field and Country Barn

Hey friends, In this week’s tutorial, I dove into one of my favorite types of scenes to paint—loose wildflowers with a sweet little country...
