"Special Place" Loss of a Dad - Reid State Park, Maine

I lost my dad when I was only 24 years old to lung cancer, so this particular commission painting was very close to my heart.

This client spent lots of family time right here looking out over this
very bridge at Reid State Park in Georgetown, Maine with her dad. She lost him just recently and wanted this painting done
as a wonderful reminder of him.

I was extremely honored to be able to paint this for her and I have to say that I choked up a bit while painting it.

Large Oil Painting of Five Island, Georgetown, Maine

Five Islands, Georgetown Maine Oil Painting
A Beautiful Day in Maine

Here's what I've been up to - I bought some new Winsor Newton Water Mixable Oils last week and painted an oil painting, size 24x36" on a Gallery Stretched canvas!

I was so excited to start because my mother came to paint with me! I've missed her (and you too dad)... they just got back from being snow birds in Florida. I picked up double everything for her for Mother's Day so we could create together.

What a big difference painting with oils....it's been such a long time since I've worked with them! The Water clean up make's them so much easier....and hardly any smell.

Daily Painting - Day 14 "REID STATE PARK" Georgetown, Maine

"REID STATE PARK"

Georgetown, Maine

8x10 Watercolor/Gouache

Day 14/30 of our Painting Challenge

Reid State Park in Georgetown, Maine. Looks like we still have a little snow left on the ground, even with this lovely 59 degree weather. Of course if you aren't from the cold states you may think this isn't so great, but here in Maine, this is VERY warm.

"Maine Wave" Reid State Park - Georgetown, Maine

KELLIE LYNN ART

"MAINE WAVE"
Reid State Park - Georgetown, Maine

5x7 Original Watercolor by Maine Artist, Kellie Chasse
Available at Wylers in Brunswick, Maine

This wave is located at Reids State Park in Georgetown, Maine.

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a beautiful 70 degrees out in early September and the sun was shining down with  such warmth.

I waddled up onto the rocks with my extended belly and sat down, exhausted. The waves crashed below making a powerful sound. It was a crazy moment for me.... you know how sometimes it takes a while for things to really sink in? Well  I was 9 months pregnant , looking down at my round belly and had that BIG MOMENT! I realized my world was about to change forever, I was about to be a mom!

Talk about a wave!

I seem to  have found a fascination with crashing waves.

This painting has some wonderful colors in the rocks...deep purples and reds.
