Ripple To Wave - Ink Painting

"Ripple To Wave"

Our Dog of 16 years, Kota has come to a point where a decision needs to be made. It started off as a ripple, she had a hard time walking and developed a number of masses. The past week she has deteriorated. The crest of the wave is now here, it's big and scary.

We know she had a wonderful life but it's so hard making the call to let her go.

Once the wave has past....a calm will appear.

How To Make Hand Made Gift Tags

This is the best little tool for making the cutest little hand made gift card tags for your gifts, crafts, or art! It really gives a nice professional look. Perfect for the holidays too!

It's called the Clever Lever Corner Craft Punch. They have many versions.
It cuts the corners with a nice finished edge and stamps out a little design flair. This one looks like a little wave, but they have snowflakes, squares, clouds... really anything you can imagine.

For this particular gift card I used an sheet of acid free linen paper, but you can use any kind of paper in any color and in any size! I cut the paper to match the size I want first, then fold and punch the corners.

Punch a hole in the corner, add some ribbon or string and ta-dah!
You may have seen yesterday's blog post on some hand painted ornaments...I used the gift tags there too. (So you can see another size and paper)

One on One Watercolor Painting Session with Kellie Lynn Art

 KELLIE LYNN ART SESSION

Jen saw my piece on  THE GIANT STAIRCASE and wanted to do something on a smaller scale since Bailey Island was very close to her heart.

We set up an appointment to paint one on one this past Saturday and I want to thank her for letting me video tape our painting session. She was such a sport about it!

My husband Larry purchased me a new Nikon camera recently and it has High definition recording on it so I have been just waiting to try it out! Oh, not to mention he hooked me up with a full studio lightening system and heavy duty tripod! I love that guy. (Thank you darling! XOXO)

Hope you enjoy it....had to speed it up x4 in order to keep it under 10 minutes, but you'll get the idea!

Don't forget to subscribe to the new Kellie Lynn Art YouTube Channel - More demo paintings to come!

Giant Staircase - Bailey Island, MAINE Framed - SOLD

THE WAVE

"GIANT STAIRCASE" - Bailey Island, Maine

SOLD

This is my largest painting to date - a full sheet 22x30". Most of my work tends to be the smaller 5x7" but I'm trying to get out of my box.

I am super excited, because yesterday I dropped off "THE WAVE" painting to have it professionally framed at the Gallery. Really looking forward to seeing the results! oh yeah, I'll probably share it here when it's done, no twisting my arm!

Had them use a lovely antique frame from a Claude Montgomery painting that I sold recently. Unfortunately the original mat had been damaged and not to mention the client that purchased it lived far far away and this frame is huge and there fore, yep I'm going to go all Mainer on you;WICKED expensive to ship! So guess what....I kept it.

Took me about 30  minutes to figure out what color matting to choose, but finally settled on a lovely ocean spray green with an inside chocolate brown to pop out the color in the rocks. I think it'll  look extremely shabby chic! Went all out on this one - even got the special UV ray protection glass so that it won't fade the colors. If any of you have recently had your work framed professionally you know all to well the costs involved, but I think the out come will be well worth the investment.

Update: December  21st - This painting has been sold, but I may a others you may be interested in on my Daily Paint Works Gallery.

"Maine Wave" Reid State Park - Georgetown, Maine

KELLIE LYNN ART

"MAINE WAVE"
Reid State Park - Georgetown, Maine

5x7 Original Watercolor by Maine Artist, Kellie Chasse
Available at Wylers in Brunswick, Maine

This wave is located at Reids State Park in Georgetown, Maine.

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a beautiful 70 degrees out in early September and the sun was shining down with  such warmth.

I waddled up onto the rocks with my extended belly and sat down, exhausted. The waves crashed below making a powerful sound. It was a crazy moment for me.... you know how sometimes it takes a while for things to really sink in? Well  I was 9 months pregnant , looking down at my round belly and had that BIG MOMENT! I realized my world was about to change forever, I was about to be a mom!

Talk about a wave!

I seem to  have found a fascination with crashing waves.

This painting has some wonderful colors in the rocks...deep purples and reds.

SOLD "THE WAVE" 30x22" Watercolor, by Kellie Chasse

KELLIE LYNN ART

"THE WAVE"
Sold

30x22" Large Original Watercolor by Kellie Chasse
--
Painted a similar smaller 5x7" painting of Thunder Hole, but wanted to try a bigger version. Although it is similar, no two paintings are alike.
This was taped directly to my wall since my table wasn't big enough to be accommodating.
It was so much fun - I had the paint flying everywhere!

I enjoyed it so much that I may do another one with some purple/pink shades.

Gives you an idea of the size.

Happy Painting! Kellie Chasse
