Harpwell, Maine Yellow Sky Reflection

Guess what...it's back to watercolor today! I missed watercolors! Seascapes are my go to painting...they are just straight up FUN to do!  This beautiful scene is of Harpswell, Maine.

The sky is a vibrant yellow with the warm reflection casting itself over the outgoing tide. You can see Joe's Island, the small island in the middle.

*Special thanks to Benjamin Williamson for the Reference Photo!
Take your home décor to the shore with this Coastal Harpswell, Maine Original Watercolor, ready to frame! With warm ocean hues of yellow, blue and beige, and black. This art piece would showcase wonderful in a black or white frame.

Grasshopper Watercolor - More Progress

Finally had a chance to work a bit more on Hopper today. He's really coming along but now I'm stuck trying to figure out how I want to do the background.

Should he be left white (similar style to my blue lobster) or splatter paint would be fun...maybe just on the top right and bottom left? Decisions decisions....

May as well sleep on it tonight and see what my thoughts are in the morning. Find that stepping away from a painting for a while works for me, so does taking a picture. This way you can really see it from a different perspective.

He certainly is a big insect - can't tell his size here, but this bug is on a 22" x 15" sheet of Arches 300lbs cold press.

Now I notice that my photo has horrible lighting! Took this one with my Ipad...still playing with the new windows update ugh.

"Got My Boots On" 30 in 30 Day 28

GOT MY BOOTS ON
5x7 Watercolor
Private Collection

We are winding down on the 30 day challenge! It's been one heck of a ride.

I don't normally paint people but figured since this is a challenge I'd give it the good ol try!
Portraits and buildings are my nemesis, but I love a challenge. So here is "GOT MY BOOTS ON".

Remember as a child how much you loved to splash around in the mud puddles after the rain? This little guy has his little blue rain boots on and is having the time of his life!

Always remember, it's sometimes the simple things in life that make it all worth while. So go play, and make a splash for yourself today!

Grasshopper ~ Started a New Painting 22x15"

Started a new insect painting on Monday that I'm really excited about. Sometimes I wonder why I chose my objects...they seem to jump out at me and usually it's the bright colors and lines, not necessarily the object itself.

Have you ever really looked at a Grasshopper closely? Some folks were like EWE- bugs, but I find the details in his body incredible!  I knew this one would be a challenge with all the texture and color variations, but who doesn't love a challenge!

We will be moving into our new tiny home this weekend, I'm talking beds and everything! So I hope to get things back in order and by the end of the month I'll be painting daily again. (fingers crossed).

Maine...the way life should be!
Feel free to check on one of my completed paintings of Boothbay Harbor - Sailing.

Daily Painting 24 "LOBSTERMAN'S BEST FRIEND"

"Lobsterman's Best Friend"

5x7 Watercolor/Gouache/Ink

Day 24/30 of our Daily Painting Challenge.

A friend of mine posted this adorable picture of her yellow lab, Finn on facebook the other day and I just had to paint him! I should have asked permission first,  but I just couldn't help myself! I sent her a note this morning asking if I could post it, and lucky for me she said yes! (Phew)

I thought it was such a classic Maine sight....a lobsterman with his best friend....heading out to set traps for the day. According to Jodi, Finn was patiently waiting to go!

Special  thanks to Jodi Galvin for the reference photo!
