Peacock Feathers New Quick Demo Video

I believe EVERYONE should try Alcohol Inks at least once in there lives, so I really enjoy sharing as much FREE content as I can for you! Really wish I could afford to give it all away, but ....well let's be honest, I wouldn't have enough to keep creating all of these videos and those supplies have to be purchased somewhere (why can't those be FREE ;)  So I really appreciate all of your fantastic comments, support, and Likes - they keep me going! I created the Peacock painting above in early 2014, and it's still one of my personal favorites from my alcohol ink collection. The original sold right away, but I did remember to make prints of it before I shipped it out. I'm  honored to say it's one of my top selling prints and top Pinned posts from my Pinterest page, along with Mr. Blue Lobster . 

So today I thought I would show you how I created a little piece of the background (little feather circles). The original painting is more organic looking and I love the randomness of the circles, but I'll show you how to control them a bit more in the video ----> Link Below

If you haven't tried one of my online Alcohol Ink Course's you can find a Material List Video for my classes as well as I've added some online links below for you.

First I started with a wet background using Cloudy Blue and added the Lake Mist with a small detail brush. I created some feathery lines for the first layer then let that dry.

Then added a drop of Citrus and tilted my paper to spread out the inks, then added a drop of eggplant, and finally a drop of Pool Blue.

What is Art? "Absolute Intimacy with another Mind"

My hubby sent me an article today and with it a sweet little not attached:

"Nice article about the importance of artists and writers in a distracted world.  Your work is not just beautiful my love, it is good for the soul."

I read it and thought, wow that's a  great article and there was this one sentence (Absolute intimacy with another mind) was a wow for me.  Have you ever really thought about how when you create something and another person looks at it...they are looking into your mind ~ pretty deep stuff huh!

My new AI Art prints came in today - pretty excited about it. I've learned how to take RAW pictures with my Nikon camera and set up my prints in Photoshop (Thanks to my husband)!

I then send them to my printer and they run them off for me!

I now have the Peacock in cards, 5x7, 8x10 and 11x14 print sizes! This one is an 11x14 in a 16x20 Mat. You can purchase them from my Kellie Lynn Art Etsy Store!

I tried for a more realistic looking Peacock this time! I really like how this one turned out. Somehow I  managed to keep my style a little loose but with some details in the face.

This time I used a pencil instead of an ink pen to draw  out the basic shape of the peacock bird. I learned on my last piece that the pen ink will run when the alcohol touches it....should have seen that one coming!

You may also be wondering what all the paint dots are underneath the bird. I made myself a ink chart. This is a great way to help determine your color choices! I can see them laid out in front of me before I drop them onto the Yupo paper. 

The colors are not exactly as they are on the labels. Well, they may have started that way but inks are messy and before long most of the labels are covered with ink making it hard to tell! Before I would pick up any old blue and go with it!

I started out by painting the background first, then added the layers of color over once it dried.

I'm still planning on doing a video demo in February....so if you have never tried AI you can see a few tips that I've learned from trial and error.

Day 22 - "GO BOLD" Alcohol Ink

I'm back from my Florida vacation today!
I worked really hard to get all my 30 day paintings done and blogged before I left so I could just relax on the beach!

This one was really fun to paint with Alcohol inks!
I saw a video online when I was on my Ipad showing a peacock.... now I can't find the link (really need to write this stuff down)! If anyone knows which one I'm talking about, please let me know and I'll add the link here. :)

Peacock Feathers Renewal - Happy New Year

"Renewal" - Happy New Year!

It is said that a Peacock sheds its old feathers every year and grows newer, more brilliant ones each year, a sign of renewal! 

In 2014 I plan to paint even more, which was a very good year! I have to share that it was a record sales years in 2013 for me and I even managed to paint over 100 paintings! I'm not sure I could have done that if it wasn't for Lelsie's 30 Day challenge's! So a BIG Thank you to her!

Learned to Make Peacock Feathers with Ink!

Working with Inks has been such a fun new experience for me. I've been manipulating the abstract paintings by turning them while the ink dries. You can get some really cool effects and they have some of the brightest colors.

Before the ink completely dries...you can use brushes to get the inks to move and create some interesting textures and patterns.  Here I used a small brush to give the appearance of feathers.
It can be tricky... .and you never know what you'll come out with!
